Baltasar Porcel (Andratx, Mallorca, 1937), son of the Mediterranean, is prolific writer whose bibliography includes drama, fiction, essays and journalism. Novels he has written are Solnegre (1961), Cavalls cap a la fosca (1975), Les primaveres i les tardors (1986), Ulisses a alta mar (1997), El cor del senglar (2000, Premi de la Crítica prize) and L'emperador o l'ull del vent (2001, Premi Ramon Llull, Premi Nacional de Cultura Literatura). His work has been translated into Castilian, French, English, German, Italian and Vietnamese. He has recently brought together all of his short stories as Les maniobres of the love (2002), and published a collection of interviews, L'àguila daurada. Grans creadors a the Catalunya del segle XX (2003).
