Kristín Marja Baldursdóttir (1949) is an author of three novels and one short-stories collection. She is known in Iceland for her writing in the daily newspaper Morgunblaðið. Her latest novel, Seagull's Laughter, has been staged as a play and filmed. The film is the all-out winner at the November, 2001 Icelandic Edda Awards, and is breaking box office records in its country of origin. The book has been sold to Krüger Verlag in Germany and PP-Forlag in Denmark and received excellent media reviews. Seagull's Laughter is being translated into Danish.
