Bitter Memories
Bitter Memories Photo: Aurel Duka
A good part of the intellectual class in Albania was killed or incarcerated for political reasons during the Stalinist dictatorship. The country's prisons and concentration camps teemed with teachers and professors, priests and engineers, writers and painters, scientists and philologists, physicians and lawyers - a whole university behind bars.
The authors presented in this section, together with many others, put to paper what they experienced and felt in the years in which they were victims of a cruelly repressive regime.
