Yasmina is a leading light among the slowly growing number of much needed agents in the field of Arabic writing. She combines a passion for literature with business acumen in a proportion that favours a non-commercial approach to running an agency. Since she set up Raya Agency in 2004 she has tirelessly promoted contemporary Arabic literature well beyond the authors on her own list.

In 2009, together with Nadim Tarazi, director of La Maison du Livre, the Lebanese association for the promotion of literature, Yasmina launched Mubtada wa khabar, a collaborative platform for the Arab book industry. The project was supported by Beirut World Book Capital 2009 and benefited from the focus on Lebanese and Arabic books in general that the UNESCO-bestowed title created.

The idea behind this ambitious project is to connect and empower all the stakeholders in the industry with the aim of improving the flow of information and agreeing on standards.
