Narcís Comadira undertook his studies in Humanities and Philosophy before specialising in Architecture and the History of Art. A celebrated poet and painter, he is also known as a dramaturge, translator, journalist, literary and architectural critic, art historian and publicist. 

His oeuvre is extensive and extremely varied. He has translated authors such as Leopardi and W. H. Auden into Catalan. His own work has been collected in the volume Formes de l’ombre. Poésie 1966-2002, which draws on earlier books, including La liberté et la terreur (1970-1980).

His work is translated into English, German, Portuguese and other languages.
